Question Asked

To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, what guidance his Department gives UK nationals on purchasing or acquiring (a) abalone, (b) coral, (c) conch, (d) shark fin, (e) sea turtle meat or shells, (f) bushmeat, (g) ivory and (h) rhino horn when overseas.

Answer

The trade in endangered animal and plant species, and their import and export, is controlled by the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of wild fauna and flora (CITES).
