PARLIAMENTARY WRITTEN QUESTION
Central Arbitration Committee (18 November 2016)

To ask the Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, what (a) correspondence and (b) representations he has received from the (i) Chairman of the Central Arbitration Committee, (ii) hon. Members and (iii) members of the House of Lords on appointments to that Committee.

Ministers in Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy finalised the appointment of Deputy Chairs and Employer Members to the Central Arbitration Committee in July 2016. The appointment of Worker Members were finalised recently with the successful candidates able to attend the Annual General Meeting of the Central Arbitration Committee on 16 November 2016.

I am not aware that my Rt Hon Friend the Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy has received any direct representations from either House in respect of these appointments. Sir Michael Burton, the Chair of the Central Arbitration Committee, has been in regular contact with senior officials and Ministers in the Department over the period of the recruitment process.
