Question Asked

Asked by:
Dr Rosena Allin-Khan (Labour)

Answer

There is a global teacher shortage; at least 74 countries face an acute shortage of teachers. In the period 2011 – 2015 we helped to train 380,000 teachers and improve the effectiveness of teacher development.

In addition, through our £300 million support to the Global Partnership for Education (GPE), we assist 65 developing countries to develop education sector plans to get trained teachers into classrooms, where they are most needed.
