Social Security Benefits: Lone Parents (8 November 2016)

To ask the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, how many hours of back to work support a lone-parent with a child under one year of age affected by the change in the benefit cap will receive each week from a jobcentre work coach.

All claimants who may be affected by the changes to the benefit cap have been offered help and support to get them into employment or move close to or further into employment.

Lone parents with a child under one year of age can choose to attend a voluntary intervention with a Work Coach to discuss help and support to find employment. Work Coaches will continue to offer additional voluntary employment support to these claimants until the lone parent indicates they wish to cease engagement, or their circumstances change. There are no restrictions on the number of hours of support offered.
