PARLIAMENTARY WRITTEN QUESTION
Companies: Ownership (31 October 2016)
Question Asked
Asked by:
Helen Hayes (Labour)
Answer
The Government has concluded agreements with all three Crown Dependencies to provide UK law enforcement and tax authorities with unrestricted and near real time access to beneficial ownership information on corporate and legal entities incorporated in these jurisdictions from a central register or similarly effective system. The Crown Dependencies have committed to ensuring these arrangements will come into effect by June 2017, once the necessary legislation is in place.
There is already a significant level of cooperation between law enforcement agencies and authorities in the Crown Dependencies, and Jersey has had a central register of beneficial ownership since 1989.
