Asylum: Children in Care (31 October 2016)

To ask the Secretary of State for Education, how many unaccompanied asylum-seeking children were being looked after under a (a) section 20 voluntary accommodation arrangement and (b) care order (interim or final) on 31 March 2016.

There were 4,210 unaccompanied asylum seeking children looked after at 31 March 2016. 4,170 were looked after under a section 20 voluntary accommodation arrangement, 10 under an interim care order, and 20 under a full care order[1].

[1] These figures have been rounded to the nearest 10.
