PARLIAMENTARY WRITTEN QUESTION
Social Services: Council Tax (25 October 2016)

Question Asked

To ask the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, what estimate he has made of the potential uptake of social care precept by councils in each year to 2020-21.

Asked by:
Helen Hayes (Labour)

Answer

Council Tax is a locally raised and set, and it is for local authorities to decide whether they wish to make use of the adult social care ‘precept’. The government has published figures for Core Spending Power each area and each year up to 2019-20, which includes the amount of funding that would be available to them if they chose to take advantage of it.
