Universal Credit (21 April 2016)

Question Asked

To ask the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, whether claimants in the support group are required to make new claims when they are transferred to universal credit.

Asked by:
Jonathan Reynolds (Labour)

Answer

We are still developing the processes which will support the managed migration of existing claimants to Universal Credit. Claimants will be contacted in good time to inform them of the steps they will need take to be moved to Universal Credit.

Claimants who are in receipt of the Support Component in ESA at the point they are transferred to Universal Credit will have the Limited Capability for Work and Work-related activity element in UC applied to their UC award from the start of their first assessment period.
