PARLIAMENTARY WRITTEN QUESTION
Universal Credit (21 April 2016)

Question Asked

To ask the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, whether support group claimants will be required to sign a claimant commitment when they are transferred to universal credit.

Asked by:
Jonathan Reynolds (Labour)

Answer

All claimants are required to accept a claimant commitment as a condition of entitlement for receiving universal credit. Claimants who are not subject to work-related requirements will do this through the online claims process.

However, we have the ability to lift this requirement where it is appropriate to do so, either temporarily or in the longer-term, including for those claimants in the support group of Employment and Support Allowance.
