To ask the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, what plans his Department has to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the 1620 voyage of the Mayflower.

Answer

The Anniversary of the sailing of the Mayflower is a wonderful opportunity to reignite the interest that American citizens have in our nations' shared history.

Plymouth City Council are leading the commemorations for this anniversary - representing the beginning of one of the most enduring alliances in the world. The Government has made over £500,000 available to support the Council's ambition for this celebration to be a year of both national and international significance for the city.
