PARLIAMENTARY WRITTEN QUESTION
House of Commons: Broadcasting Programmes (29 February 2016)

Question Asked

To ask the Rt. hon. Member for Carshalton and Wallington representing the House of Commons Commission, what the Commission's policy is on the use of House broadcast footage in programmes of a satirical nature.

Asked by:
Dr Rupa Huq (Labour)

Answer

Members decided not to allow televised coverage of the House for satirical purposes as part of the broadcasting arrangements which came into place in 1989. This followed recommendations made by the Select Committee on Televising of Proceedings of the House (First Report 1988–89, HC 141-I, para 50).
