PARLIAMENTARY WRITTEN QUESTION
Royal Bournemouth Hospital: Recruitment (10 September 2015)

To ask the Secretary of State for Health, how many vacancies there are for theatre nurses at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital; and if he will discuss with the Home Secretary ensuring that theatre nurses recruited in the Philippines can be employed at that hospital.

Recruitment is an operational matter for the Foundation Trust.

We have written to Jane Stitchbury, Chair of the Royal Bournemouth and Christchurch Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust informing her of the hon. Member’s enquiry. She will reply shortly and a copy of the letter will be placed in the Library.

The Secretary of State is keen to ensure that the immigration system works to ensure that the brightest and best candidates from around the world are able to take up posts in NHS trusts where there are no suitable United Kingdom candidates available to take up these positions. The Secretary of State and his officials are in regular contact with Home Office ministers and officials on this and other relevant matters.
