PARLIAMENTARY WRITTEN QUESTION
Channel Tunnel (9 September 2015)

Question Asked

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, what support he has provided to rail freight operators as a result of the recent disruption to Channel Tunnel services.

Asked by:
Lilian Greenwood (Labour)

Answer

A number of measures are being put in place including the provision of secure fencing, increased security sweeps and extra security staff for the Fréthun freight yard. The fencing and extra security staff have been financed by HMG. There has also been support for the rail freight operators in the form of regular liaison meetings between the operators, Eurotunnel and Government which has facilitated operational measures such as daytime running at preferential rates.
