Young Offenders: Reoffenders (4 September 2015)

The number of young adults aged 18-24 cautioned, convicted or released from custody in the 12 months ending September 2013 has fallen by 25% since 2002.

We are committed to doing more to support young adult offenders whilst they are in prison and in the community to enable them to make an effective contribution to society and to reduce the likelihood of their re-offending.

For the first time in recent history, offenders sentenced to less than 12 months in custody will receive supervision and support on release. A diverse range of organisations, including the voluntary sector, are providing individuals with support that aims to reduce their likelihood of reoffending, including help with finding or retaining employment, accommodation, and advice on finance and debt.
