Social Security Benefits: Terminal Illnesses (21 July 2015)

Question Asked

To ask the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, how many terminally ill people were reassessed for (a) personal independence payment, (b) employment and support allowance and (c) attendance allowance in the last year for which figures are available.

Answer

Claimants are considered to be terminally ill if they have a progressive condition and the person’s death in consequence of that disease can reasonably be expected within 6 months.
