PARLIAMENTARY WRITTEN QUESTION
Renewable Energy (21 July 2015)

Question Asked

To ask the Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change, what assessment she has made of the potential economic benefits of investment in renewable energy resources in the next 10 years.

Asked by:
Alison McGovern (Labour)

Answer

The Department of Energy and Climate Change published Delivering UK Investment: Low Carbon Energy in March 2015 which estimates investment in renewable electricity generation capacity between 2015 and 2020 of up to £45bn. We estimate that the low carbon sector has the potential to support up to 250,000 jobs by 2020, of which 200,000 would be in renewables. [1]
