To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, what estimate he has made of the cost of converting a Class 801 Intercity Express Programme unit to bi-mode diesel operation.

We have a commercially confidential initial estimate; however no decisions have been taken on the Intercity Express Programme conversion. I am committed to ensuring that the trains enter service as planned.
