Question Asked

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, what assessment he has made of the potential effect of the introduction of a Northern Oyster Card for transport capacity and connectivity in the North of England.

Answer

A business case is being developed, in conjunction with Transport for the North, to enable the rail network in the North for smart ticketing. This will consider the impact on connectivity and capacity. The business case will also examine how rail services could be integrated with existing, and emerging, smart schemes in the Northern cities.
