Great Western Main Line: Electrification (1 July 2015)

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, how many miles of the Great Western Main Line electrification project his Department plans will use (a) Series 1 overhead line equipment, (b) Series 2 overhead line equipment and (c) overhead line equipment built to other designs.

On the Great Western Network Rail have informed me that they plan to electrify 1100 single track kilometres with Series 1 Overhead Line Equipment. They have a further 160 single track kilometres which is still to be determined.
