To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, if his Department will undertake an affordability review of Network Rail's enhancement projects.

Answer

As the Secretary of State announced on 25 June, in the House, the new chair of Network Rail has been asked to develop proposals for how the rail upgrade programme will be carried out. He is due to report to the Secretary of State for Transport in the Autumn.
