PARLIAMENTARY WRITTEN QUESTION
Severn Estuary: Tidal Power (10 June 2015)

Question Asked

To ask the Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change, what impact assessment the Government has made of proposals for further tidal lagoons in the Severn Estuary.

Asked by:
Stephen Doughty (Labour)

Answer

The first phase of the Contract for Difference negotiation for the Swansea Bay tidal lagoon project enables the Department to better understand the potential of a tidal lagoon programme in the UK.

We recognise the need to consider the strategic case for having multiple tidal lagoons in the Severn Estuary and the impact that this could have on the area.
