PARLIAMENTARY WRITTEN QUESTION
Railways: Season Tickets (5 June 2015)

Question Asked

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, if he will require train operating companies to offer part-time season tickets as a condition of any future franchise awards.

Asked by:
Lilian Greenwood (Labour)

Answer

Part-time season tickets do not currently exist on the rail network. The Government is currently working in partnership with the rail industry to develop both the required infrastructure and the details of exactly how such a product should work for passengers. Until this work is completed, it would not be appropriate or cost-effective to specify part-time season tickets in rail franchises.
