Gospel Oak-Barking Railway Line: Electrification (3 June 2015)

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, what estimate he has made of the cost of electrifying the Gospel Oak to Barking railway line; and what contribution his Department plans to make to that project.

Answer

The Government has made no estimate of the cost of electrifying the Gospel Oak to Barking railway line. Network Rail will provide an estimate following formal sign-off of stage 3 of the Governance for Railway Investment Projects (‘GRIP’) process.

The Department for Transport has allocated £90 million towards the project (2013 prices).
