To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, what steps she is taking to ensure that women are informed about all of their specific rights and entitlements within the asylum process.

Answer
We are currently reviewing the information we provide to women asylum applicants at the point of claim to ensure that they are aware of the external services available to them and of their rights in the asylum process, such as the right to request an interviewer and interpreter of a particular gender. In conjunction with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, the Refugee Council and the Scottish Refugee Council, we will shortly begin a pilot to signpost women who may have been the victims of sexual violence to existing support services.
