PARLIAMENTARY WRITTEN QUESTION
Average Earnings (4 March 2015)

Question Asked

To ask Mr Chancellor of the Exchequer, what recent assessment he has made of the growth in average earnings compared to the rate of inflation since May 2010.

Asked by:
Karl Turner (Labour)

Answer

This government understands that times have been tough for many families since the 2008 recession.

But we are turning a corner and I am delighted that for the past four months pay has been rising faster than inflation. Further, we are seeing average wage growth of 4.1% for full-time employees in continuous employment and there have been 1.85 million jobs created since this government came to power.
