Social Security Benefits: Disqualification (6 March 2015)

Question Asked

To ask the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, with reference to the peer reviews carried out by his Department following deaths of customers, how many of those deaths occurred whilst the customer was subject to benefit sanctions.

Answer

Every death is a tragedy and it is right that the Department reviews complex cases including where claimants have died to identify whether processes have been followed and whether processes could be improved.
