Answer
The power bands of standard, standard plus, rapid and ultra-rapid have been used in published statistics since January 2026, following engagement with industry stakeholders to ensure the UK public charging network is represented accurately.
Statistics on public electric vehicle (EV) chargers, by these power bands from January 2026 onwards are published in Table EVCI0201: Public EV chargers by power band: United Kingdom, 1 July 2026.
Equivalent statistics are not available for the previous years requested because these power band classifications were introduced in January 2026. Historical statistics on the power of public charging devices from January 2015 onwards are available in Sheet 3 of Historical table EVCI9001: Public EV charging devices: United Kingdom, 1 July 2026.
Further information on the distinction between public EV chargers and public charging devices, and on the introduction of the current power band definitions, is available in the published frequently asked questions document.
