Question Asked

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, whether the Foreign Influence Registration Scheme regulates political donations to (a) political parties and (b) regulated donees from sources based abroad which are (i) permissible and (ii) impermissible donations under political finance laws.

Answer

The political tier of the Foreign Influence Registration Scheme (FIRS) enhances transparency of foreign power influence in the UK and supports the early identification and disruption of harmful activity. The regulation of political funding is covered via separate legislation.
