PARLIAMENTARY WRITTEN QUESTION

To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, with reference to the second recommendation of the report titled Independent Investigation into Maternity and Neonatal Services in England Final report and recommendations, published on 30 June 2026, whether the Patient Reported Experience Measure tool for Maternity and Neonatal Services will include families who have experienced (1) pregnancy loss and (2) the death of a baby.

The Maternity and Neonatal Taskforce will develop a national action plan that will reform maternity and neonatal services to deliver lasting change for women, families, and their babies. The taskforce will consider all aspects of those current services, including pregnancy and baby loss, and patient experience.

The Patient Reported Experience Measure (PREM) tool for maternity and neonatal services will include families who have experienced pregnancy loss and the death of a baby.

Work is planned with bereaved families and service users who have experienced loss to determine how feedback gathered through the PREM in maternity and neonatal services can appropriately reflect their experiences.
