To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, how many Class 810 trains were expected to be in passenger service by (a) December 2022, (b) December 2023, (c) December 2024, (d) December 2025 and (e) the latest date for which figures are available.

The expectation at the time of procurement was that all 33 new Class 810 fleet would have been delivered by Hitachi Rail and available for service by December 2022. The first Class 810 trains entered passenger service in December 2025; the latest position is that this fleet is being introduced through a phased roll-out during 2026 and 2027.
