PARLIAMENTARY WRITTEN QUESTION
(22 June 2026)

Question Asked

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, how many critical concrete structures are considered to be at risk of significant deterioration within the next decade.

Asked by:
Jack Rankin (Conservative)

Answer

It is the responsibility of infrastructure operators, including local highway authorities and arm’s length bodies, such as National Highways, to maintain their networks and any associated concrete structures.

To help support this, the Government is investing billions of pounds in transport infrastructure, including £24 billion of capital funding between 2026-27 and 2029-30 to maintain and improve our motorways and local roads across the country.
