PARLIAMENTARY WRITTEN QUESTION
(15 June 2026)

Question Asked

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, what recent assessment she has made of the adequacy of Police Officer numbers in Gloucester constituency.

Asked by:
Alex McIntyre (Labour)

Answer

The Government’s Safer Streets Mission sets a clear expectation for policing to deliver safer communities and improved public confidence. An effective, well-supported police service is central to achieving this.

Published statistics show that Gloucestershire Constabulary had a total of 1,349 full-time equivalent police officers at 30 September 2025.

This data is collected by police force area only; more specific information, such as officer numbers in each parliamentary constituency, is not collected.

It is for Chief Constables, directly accountable to the relevant Police and Crime Commissioner or Mayor, to make operational decisions on how best to allocate and deploy the resources at their disposal to provide an effective service.
