Question Asked

To ask the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, what steps the newly expanded Women’s Employment Ambassador role will take to support new mothers returning to work.

Asked by:
Maya Ellis (Labour)

Answer

The Government is committed to tackling the challenges women face in the labour market, whether they want to find a job, return to work, or progress in work, regardless of their background or stage of life.

The Women’s Employment Ambassador will champion women throughout their life course, working with employers across the country to strengthen workplace support, raise awareness of key issues and highlight the vital economic contribution of women. This work will also include engaging with cross-Government initiatives such as Keep Britain Working ensuring outputs and learnings towards the healthy working lifecycle reflect a women’s health lens.

The Women’s Employment Ambassador is new, and we are currently scoping the role with the Ambassador.
