PARLIAMENTARY WRITTEN QUESTION
Mayors: Greater Manchester (28 January 2015)

To ask the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, pursuant to the Answer of 26 January 2015 to Question 221428, whether the people of Greater Manchester will have a say in determining the salary for the city-region Mayor created by the devolution agreement.

Local government allowances for elected representatives are locally-set, within the legal framework set out in legislation.

We would envisage that the provisions for the setting and scrutiny of allowances for an elected mayor in Greater Manchester should operate on similar lines as for other elected mayors and councillors.
