PARLIAMENTARY WRITTEN QUESTION
Property Searches (21 January 2015)

Question Asked

To ask the Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills, what safeguards are in place to ensure that prospective home-ownership deals do not collapse as a result of centralising local land charges registers.

Asked by:
Mr Toby Perkins (Labour)

Answer

To safeguard home-ownership Land Registry already rigorously tests all IT solutions it builds and it will do the same for any new Local Land Charges system that it introduces.

Implementation will also require a range of secondary legislation to support the changes, so ensuring that Parliament has the opportunity to monitor progress and to comment where it is deemed necessary.
