We do not publish a ‘waiting time’ measure for Magistrates’ courts. The Magistrates’ courts timeliness tool contains published estimates of timeliness from offence to case completion at the Magistrates’ courts. More than 90 per cent of all criminal cases are dealt with at the magistrates’ courts, where cases continue to be completed swiftly. However, in the last year, the magistrates’ courts outstanding caseload has begun to increase, following an increase in the number of cases coming before the criminal courts.
