PARLIAMENTARY WRITTEN QUESTION
Wind Power (25 November 2014)

Question Asked

To ask the Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change, what assessment he has made of the effect on small-scale wind turbine development of the removal of 15kw Fee-in-Tariff bracket in December 2012.

Asked by:
Jonathan Reynolds (Labour)

Answer

A comprehensive review of the feed-in tariff scheme (FITs) in 2012 introduced degression mechanisms for all technologies to prevent overcompensation and deliver value-for-money for energy bill payers. Following consultation, degression bands at the sub-100kW capacities were combined in an effort to support the deployment of small-scale turbines. A re-assessment of the FITs degression bands and tariff rates, as well as their effect on deployment, will form part of the next review of FITs in 2015.
