PARLIAMENTARY WRITTEN QUESTION
Refugees: Children (2 May 2023)

Question Asked

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, how many children have been issued a letter signalling the intention for them to be to designated as a group 2 refugee should their asylum claim be successful (a) since 28 June 2022 and (b) for the most recent period in which data is available.

Asked by:
Navendu Mishra (Labour)

Answer

The Home Office publishes data on asylum in the ‘Immigration System Statistics Quarterly Release’. Data on initial decisions made on asylum applications, including grants of temporary refugee permission by age and nationality, can be found in table Asy_D02 of the ‘asylum and resettlement detailed datasets’. Information on how to use the dataset can be found in the ‘Notes’ page of the workbook.

Please note this data only includes those who have been granted temporary refugee permission, not those who have received a letter of intention to designate them as a group 2 refugee.

The latest data relate to the year ending December 2022. Data for the year ending March 2023 will be published on 25 May 2023. Information on future Home Office statistical release dates can be found in the ‘Research and statistics calendar’.
