Question Asked

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, if she will make an estimate of the number of looked after children who were detained in police custody in each of the last five years.

Answer

The Home Office does not hold the information requested.

For the first time, the Home Office collected and published information on the number of people detained in police custody, including children, as part of the ‘Police, Powers and Procedures: Other PACE, year ending March 2022’ bulletin.

The Home Office does not receive information about the status of children detained in custody.
