PARLIAMENTARY WRITTEN QUESTION
Suicide: Cost of Living (1 November 2022)

Question Asked

To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, what steps the Government will take to prevent any increase in the level of suicides due to the cost of living crisis.

Asked by:
Dr Rosena Allin-Khan (Labour)

Answer

The Government has published information on the support available to help with the cost of living, which includes income and disability benefits, bills and allowances, childcare, housing and travel. Earlier this year, we launched a call for evidence to inform cross-Government actions to support mental health, wellbeing and suicide prevention. We received over 5,000 submissions and are currently considering the responses. A summary of these responses further information on next steps will be available in due course.
