PARLIAMENTARY WRITTEN QUESTION
Autism and Learning Disability: Training (10 October 2022)

Question Asked

To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, what steps her Department has taken to trail and develop the Oliver McGowan mandatory training in learning disability and autism in the NHS.

Asked by:
Feryal Clark (Labour)

Answer

The Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training on Learning Disability and Autism was trialled in England during 2021 with over 8,000 people, in partnership with Health Education England and Skills for Care. An evaluation of the trial was published in June 2022 and outcomes of the evaluation have informed the next steps for the programme. We expect that this training will become available for National Health Service staff later this year.
