To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, if his Department will provide additional funding for expanding the (a) cancer and (b) diagnostic workforce in the (a) 2022-23, (b) 2023-24 and (c) 2024-25 financial years.

Answer

Health Education England is investing an additional £50 million in 2022/23 to increase the cancer nursing and scientific workforce and expand the postgraduate medical training of key cancer-related medical professions, including pathologists, histopathologists, clinical radiologists and oncologists. Plans for individual budgets from 2023/24 to 2024/25 will be finalised in due course.
