PARLIAMENTARY WRITTEN QUESTION
General Practitioners: Pay (15 July 2022)

Question Asked

To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, what his policy is on salaried GPs.

Asked by:
Feryal Clark (Labour)

Answer

We expect that the majority of general practitioners (GPs) will continue in partnerships holding a GP contract. However, sustainable alternative models should be available, particularly in areas where recruitment and retention challenges remain and GP practices can be organised in different ways.

Following the recommendations made in the independent ‘GP partnership review: final report’ in 2019, a number of schemes, including the GP New to Partnership Scheme and GP Fellowships, were launched to encourage GPs into partnerships.
