PARLIAMENTARY WRITTEN QUESTION
General Practitioners: Standards (15 July 2022)

Question Asked

To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, what assessment his Department has made of the use of the current Quality and Outcomes Framework in general practice.

Asked by:
Feryal Clark (Labour)

Answer

In 2017/18, NHS England reviewed the Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF) in general practice. The final report, published in 2018, concluded that there were aspects of QOF which are valued and valuable, but that improvements were necessary to deliver better patient care. ‘A five-year framework for GP contract reform to implement The NHS Long Term Plan’, published in 2019, implemented the findings of this review, including via the creation of a new Quality Improvement domain and modifying existing indicators to improve efficacy.
