PARLIAMENTARY WRITTEN QUESTION
Hormone Replacement Therapy (7 June 2022)

Question Asked

To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, pursuant to the Answer of 17 May 2022 to Question 1000 on Hormone Replacement Therapy, if his Department will take steps to help ensure that there is a sufficient supply of testosterone through the NHS for women undergoing hormone replacement therapy in line with NICE guidelines.

Asked by:
Navendu Mishra (Labour)

Answer

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence’s (NICE) guideline ‘Menopause: diagnosis and management’ recommends testosterone supplementation for menopausal women with low sexual desire if hormone replacement therapy alone is not effective. We have received no reports of supply issues in relation to testosterone which would prevent its use according to NICE’s guidelines.
