PARLIAMENTARY WRITTEN QUESTION
Mental Health Services: Equality (2 February 2022)

Question Asked

To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, what race equality training is provided to mental health professionals employed by the NHS.

Asked by:
Dr Rosena Allin-Khan (Labour)

Answer

The training of staff on equality and diversity is a matter for individual National Health Service organisations. Many organisations include race equality in mandatory training sessions as part of their governance arrangements.

NHS staff are encouraged to refer to and read good practice guidance online. Training programmes, such as the Workforce Race Equality Standards experts programme, are nationally funded. NHS England and NHS Improvement also provide webinars on equality, diversity and inclusion which can be accessed by NHS staff.
