Cancer: Health Services (15 October 2021)

Question Asked

To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, when he expects the percentage of NHS patients starting treatment within 62 days after GP Urgent Suspected Cancer Referral to rise above the 85% target; and what steps he plans to take to help tackle the cancer care backlog.

Answer

We are committed to the recovery of cancer services by the end of March 2022. We have dedicated an additional £1 billion for elective and cancer services and the National Health Service is expand diagnostic and treatment capacity to meet increasing levels of referrals and treatment.
