PARLIAMENTARY WRITTEN QUESTION
Care Homes: Homophobia (29 June 2021)

Question Asked

To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, what assessment he has made of the prevalence of homophobia in residential care settings.

Asked by:
Marsha De Cordova (Labour)

Answer

We have made no specific assessment. Under the Care Act 2014, local authorities have statutory duties to safeguard adults with care and support needs from discriminatory abuse as a result of a person’s sexual orientation. This includes carrying out safeguarding enquiries where a safeguarding concern is raised.
