PARLIAMENTARY WRITTEN QUESTION
Care Workers: Pay (25 June 2020)

Question Asked

To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, if he will take steps to end the practice of private social care workers being paid by the minute; and if he will make a statement.

Asked by:
Ed Davey (Liberal Democrat)

Answer

All social care workers are entitled to be paid at least the national minimum wage or national living wage for the work that they do. Time spent caring for clients, travelling between appointments, and waiting to start the appointment should be included in the pay calculation.
