PARLIAMENTARY WRITTEN QUESTION
Refugees (21 February 2020)

Question Asked

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, what assessment she has made of the potential merits of extending the move-on period for newly recognised refugees.

Asked by:
Mr Tanmanjeet Singh Dhesi (Labour)

Answer

Whilst there are currently no plans to extend the move-on period, the Government has been working on a number of important initiatives to ensure that newly recognised refugees are able to access benefits and housing promptly once their Home Office support ends. We are ensuring that this work takes into account the views of the key voluntary sector groups, including the British Red Cross.
